Monday 25 August - a day in Hallifax

We were a little slow getting going. That was not a problem as we were not in a rush. We had all day.

After breakfast we got oursleves organised and headed out. We were staying about 4km from the city centre so decided that we could walk rather than waiting for a bus. It was a gloriously sunny day with the temperature nudging up into the mid 20s.

The walk was interesting as it took us past an array of buildings in the style we have come to identify as common in this part of Canada.

The drivers were all particularly courtious giving way to wandering pedestrians. We did have to negoitate a large roundabout and, to our sruprise, there were pedestrian crossings on all of the roads and the drivers gave us right of way.

As well as trundling around Hallifax and along the waterfront we also took the ferry over to Dartmouth. For the princely sum of $2.50 each we got there and back.

Anyway, here is a selection of the photos from the day.

Green areas were dotted along our route

Along with some impressive colonial buildings were numerous churches:

The public gardens were quite impressive:

Our final stop of the Citadel:

The hill on which the Citadel sits has commanding views over the city and the waterways:

By the time we finally got back to the hotel we were both very tired.
