August 20: some spectator coastal formations

Breakfast was not included this morning so we wandered up the main street of Alma and ended up getting coffee and a muffin for me and a sticky bun for Trevor which was breakfast.

After repacking our bags we wandered around Alma, which is a fishing port (lobsters).

Finally, I have seen a moose ... well Trevor did see one from the air
Our first stop of the day was at the lighthouse at Cape Enrage. The cliff formations were spectactular and it is easy to envisage rockfalls. Some of our group actually witness a rockfall while we were there.

The area near the point is quite rocky ... and a dangerous area to navigate

it is easy to see why there are rockfalls

There were quite a few rockpools. I did find a crab in one ... yesterdays searching for crabs had failed to locate any
Our next stop was Hopewell Rocks. These are very similar for the Twelve Apostles except that their feet are accessible at low tide.

What a lot of people we encountered at this site. A bit of a shock really as all the other places we had been had been reasonably quiet.

This photo shows the colour of the bay water. It varies from blue to red. The cliffs across the bay no doubt provide some of the red colour

I am sure that Astrid would have thoroughly enjoyed "the beach" with it covering of mud. We did see one person with mud up to his knees! Fortunately there was an area at the top of the cliff where the muddy could hose off.

From teh Hopewell Rocks we headed for Prince Edward Island. Mike, our tour guide cooked dinner for us rather than heading off into town.
