August 19: Bay of Fundy

After breakfast we were on the road heading for Canada and the Fundy National Park in the province of New Brunswick.

We had a photo stop at a point where we could see across to the mountains in Baxter State Park. At lease we could see them today.

Crossing the border into Canada was relatively painless apart from the time it took to get us processed. Still they did have toilet facilities which we happily used.

Back on the road we headed for the Bay of Fundy and its national park. The area is reknown for its high tide variations (average 47.5 feet), seaside habitats and highland Acadian forests.

Our first stop gave us a chance to check out the waters edge. Not exactly an inviting beach, though.

We then headed off to do a forest walk.

The many fallen trees are evidence of the shallow topsoil

Looking out across the bay of Fundy
We stayed in the small town of Alma overnight.
